Olufemi Mayomi (Father U-turn) dies at 36

One of the country’s most popular dancehall acts of the 90s, Olufemi Mayomi, who was better known as Fada U-Turn, has passed on at the age of 36.

The young musician, whose songs ‘African Culture’, ‘Shakara’ and ‘Yetunde’ won him several awards, reportedly died after a brief illness said to be related to liver problems.

From Kabba-Bunu local government area of Kogi State, Fada U-Turn a started out as a presenter before going into music and was able to make some hits before he drifted out of relevance with the emergence of younger and more versatile singers who took over the scene.

He also built a successful and inspiring career as a songwriter, recording artiste, TV presenter and performer.

He is survived by his siblings, wife Ajimoh and five children.
