‘Americanah’ named best book of 2013

The BBC has named Chimamanda Adichie’s ‘Americanah’ the best book of 2013.

According to their website, she has been awarded the Commonwealth Writers’ Prize (for Purple Hibiscus), the Orange Broadband award (for Half of a Yellow Sun), and a MacArthur ‘genius’ grant.

The Good Nurse by Charles Graeber and The Book of My Lives by Aleksandar Hemon came in second and third respectively.
