“Jose Mourinho today underwent a minor arthroscopic procedure on a long-standing elbow complaint,” read a tweet from the club’s official Twitter account on Monday.

“He will return to work tomorrow.”

The 50-year-old, thought to have aggravated an old childhood injury, will return to work on Tuesday as the side prepare for their FA Cup fourth-round clash with Stoke City on Sunday.

Mourinho’s Chelsea re-closed the gap on league leaders Arsenal with their Sameul Eto’o-inspired victory over United, and now trail the Gunners by just two points.
